Hy-Sci: Hyderabad's First Student-Centric Conference
In the microcosm of Indian biology research, Hyderabad is a rich hotspot where regular scientific dialogues and discussions are necessary to broaden students' horizons and keep them informed of research happening around them. To initiate these discussions, students from CSIR-CCMB organized Hy-Sci Biology 2019, a one-of-a-kind meet entirely organized by students. The event included flash talks, oral and poster presentations by graduate students and postdocs, and two panel discussions with invited experts aimed at providing young researchers with new ideas for their research and various career options. The meet was an enriching experience for the students, kickstarting many collaborations and active scientific exchanges between different research institutes in Hyderabad, increasing their collective potential and output. Hy-Sci Biology 2019 was held on 29th August at CSIR-CCMB, and the students from CCMB invited graduate students, postdocs, and scientists working in any field of biology in Hyderabad to attend the unique and exciting event. This is now an annual event which witnesses participation of about 250 researchers from nearly 20 institutes of Hyderabad, India and the event is being hosted on a rolling basis.
The event name "Hy-Sci" was inspired from "Phi-Psi angles" used for Ramachandran plot.
